The Invention of Lying
Before I begin, let me state a well-known fact: Everybody Lies. Yes, EVEN YOU!!!! It doesn't matter if you have used it for good or for evil, someone has lied about something or on someone in their life. I just recently watch the movie The Invention of Lying, which tells the tale of a world where everyone tells the truth and no one lies. A man discovers lying and realizes the power that he has that comes with lying. But in the end he cannot lie to the one woman that he loves.....Have you ever lied to a loved one? A simple lie like "Oh I like your outfit" when you really don't or making yourself seem more financially and socially stable than the other person? But I understand, sometimes we want to elude that fact that someone else might actually be better of than you are at the time. I think we lie to make ourselves look better than we actually feel.I used to be ashamed to tell people where I worked, because It wasn't at some type of office or 9-5 job. But now I realize, why be ashamed? Do you know how many people DON'T have a job right now? I have lost boyfriends and friends, and seen marriages fail miserably from lies...lies that weren't even necessary. Why volunteer to lie? Just keep your mouth shut. And why is it that we believe people when they say "Im not lying?". Because there is an 85% chance that they actually are. In the end, who are really hurting? That person for lying to them or you, for lying to yourself?
